The Beginning of Bingo

The Beginning of Bingo
In 1929 Edwin Lowe, stopped off at a country carnival. There was only one booth open and it was extremely crowded. People were playing a game called Beano. A man pulled a chip from a cigar box and called the number on it, then players reached for a bean and covered the corresponding number on their card, if they had it. When they had totally covered a line, either diagonally, vertically or horizontally, they had to shout Beano! They then won a prize.
Lowe went home and decided to introduce the game to his friends. One friend became close to winning and was getting more and more excited. When her final number was called she jumped up in excitement. Instead of shouting Beano she yelled "Bingo!" From that moment, Lowe knew that he was going to sell this game to the public and name it "Bingo".
The one problem with the game was having multiple winners. Lowe wanted thousands of new Bingo cards with different combinations. So he hired Carl Leffler, a mathematics professor at Columbia University. Leffler was able to complete the task, but it cost him his sanity.
With the new cards, bingo began to take off. People approached Lowe, asking him to help develop bingo variants. Newsletters and even a book were published. The stakes and prizes got higher and pretty soon bingo took its place in American culture.
The most common variant in the United States is 75 ball bingo. There are 25 spaces on a 75 ball bingo card, with one blank space in the middle. The numbers 1 through 75 are used. This game also sports many variations of bingo games patterns that can be played.
Today, Bingo is one of the most popular games on the internet. Thousands of play online every day. Tons of money is given out daily to online bingo players. Internet Bingo games are always running, so people can play whenever they feel like it. There are some chat games if you want to chat with others while playing. Sometimes mini-games are played in the chat rooms simultaneously.
